Veteran Nollywood actress, Florence Onuma has added comedy to her acting prowess as she features in new comedy sitcom.
The TV sitcom, Akpors & Compan, which is in its second season also features Nollywood acts like Eliel Otete and Mario Omasoro, is expected to make more impact on viewers as producers have enlarged the viewers’ reach.
Speaking with Naij.com
on her comic role, Florence Onuma said: “It was a shift from my usual role, it was my official first attempt at comedy however, working on the set of Akpos & Company was quite interesting, and we worked like a family. The director Abbey Esho and the producer Mike Nliam were fun to work with.”
Nliam told Naij.com why he picked Onuma for the role of Mama Akpors when he said: “The process of making Akpos & Company was very meticulous and professional. Majority of the cast were selected during an intensive audition and only about 4 of them were table cast. Florence Onuma who played Lovina (Mama Akpos) was on my mind from day 1 and she didn’t disappoint performance wise.
“The very talented Eliel Otete who plays Old Major (Papa Akpos) was cast one full year after the first audition and I didn’t think twice about giving him the part. Jerry Onwordi (alias Baba Nothing Spoil) who plays Akaka, was also cast from day one.
He had no visible or invisible competition for the role and the major character, Akpos was played by a man, who has literally become the character that has become one of the most talked about,” Nliam revealed.
The hilarious TV comedy drama series would now show every Saturday on STV, Galaxy TV, while every Sunday, Akpos & Company would be shown on NTA Kaduna and NTA Kano.
Mike Nliam, who is the producer of Akpos & Company made fame as a musician and movie soundtrack specialist with over 100 songs to his credit.
