The Peoples Democratic Party has demanded explanations from President Muhammadu Buhari on the conflicting statements from the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Federal Executive Council over the operations of the Treasury Single Account (TSA).
The party said its concern arose from the fact the FG, the CBN and National Assembly are at variance over the actual amount remitted through the oeperarions of the TSA which signifies likely underhand deal.
It said the federal executive, through the Minister of Information,
Alhaji Lai Mohammed, had earlier informed the nation that the sum of N1.4 trillion has been remitted since the policy on TSA commenced, while the CBN put its figure at below a trillion and announced an estimated collectable amount of N1.2 trillion.
Addressing a news conference in Abuja on Tuesday, the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, said that it is ridiculous that the APC-led government that prides itself as being incorruptible will be sponsoring corrupt persons for elections.
Speaking on the controversy trailing the operations of the TSA, the PDP spokesman said the party is worried over the exchange of words between the National Assembly and the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Executive over the argument surrounding the handling of the remittances in the TSA.
